Kitty was fantastic! She was clear, easy to understand, and incredibly pleasant. We had an amazing time exploring the Forbidden City and walking along the Great Wall. Our group of nine came from different walks of life, all enjoying some time off from work. At first, I considered booking a private tour, but I’m so glad I opted for this small group experience instead. It was not only more affordable but also much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it!

Great tour for families to see Xi'an
This tour is a great way to experience a lot of the best sights Xi'an has to offer. Our tour guide Tracy was very informative and helpful. She ensured everyone was ok with everything, from helping the group order lunch, to hiring bicycles on the Ancient Wall. I would definitely recommend this tour for families.

Excellent Tour Experience
We had a great Xian mini tour experience with tour guide - Ms Carol. Her excellent detailed introduction to the places of interest was awesome and we had gain vast knowledge about the historical places. We enjoyed the trip as a family of four very much. Thumbs up and well done for the excellent tour services. Highly recommended for those who wish to take up this tour with Ms Carol. :)

An achievement of a lifetime!!
Visiting the Great Wall of China was a dream come true! We had a great day with Helen, our very nice and informative tour guide who gave us a lot of good information about the places we visited - The Tiananmen Square, Forbidden city and the Great Wall of China. She also gave us enough time to enjoy the places by ourselves and was very patient and nice all throughout. It was indeed a fantastic day tour - Xiexie, Helen

This is THE BEST WAY to tour Beijing
We emphatically recommend Travel China Guide service and our guide Tina. Like the title says, they are the best way to tour Beijing. They were the perfect balance of organization + flexibility + personalized service + value.
To start, they don't have a one-size-fits-all itinerary. You send them a message with your arrivial and departure dates, group size, and interests. Based on your input, they propose a plan and a price. The price was VERY reasonable for what we got - airport transfers in a private car, a great hotel in central Beijing with breakfast buffet, and touring with your guide and a private car.
We were not enthusiastic about joining a tour group, but decided to investigate this company. After I sent in our request, "Emily" replied the next day with their proposal. Emily was our consistent person for organizing the trip. Her proposal was for just the two of us with a private guide Tina. We had four full days available, but she recommended that we could hit all the main highlights in three days, and the fourth day would be a free day on our own. That sounds great, so we booked it. Payment is via domestic wire transfer to a bank in New York.
We arrived at 5pm local time into PKX Beijing Daxing airport which is about an hour's drive to central Beijing. Tina welcomed us as we exited immigration & customs and led us to the car at the curb. After traveling for so long, it was a great relief to turn over navigation to Tina and our driver. During the drive, Tina reviewed the schedule for the next few days. They got us to the hotel and made sure our check-in was uneventful and then let us go.
Over the next three days, we saw so much! I won't go into details because you can get that information in many places. This is a review of the company, not of Beijing as a place.
Having a private guide was so valuable! She had everything arranged well, with the right tickets at the right time. She took us to lightly-populated entrances and got us right in, while we saw throngs of people at other entrances. Other large groups were walking around and listening to their guide on a squawk box or headphones. We walked with Tina as she explained the history and cultural perspective of what we were experiencing. Not just the top level highlight, but she gave us really in-depth history and competing perspectives, and the evolvution of those perspectives over time. And not just the sights, but everything we saw. Do all couples take wedding photos in traditional costumes, or only the wealthy? What do her friends think about getting married and having children? How is the economy? What do people think about the USA? How did the city transition to all electric vehicles so rapidly? Since it was just us three, if we wanted to take more pictures here or spend more time there, or detour over to see that thing, or have lunch there, that all just flowed naturally. "Please show us how to use the subway." OK, we'll do that. We loved getting to know her story, the history of her family and extended family, and her views on current culture. She is now a friend and we look forward to welcoming her if she comes to our city.
Having a private car was also really valuable. We are supporters and users of public transportation, but the car really made the most of our precious time in Beijing. Tina and our driver would pick us up at the hotel in the morning and whisk us to our stops. The Beijing Zoo, Summer Palace, and Bird's Nest Stadium are all a ways away from other things, so we were very efficient in seeing those. Like having Tina as our private guide, the private car allowed us to tour at our own pace. It was also a nice little break in the action - sit down, water, air-conditioning, quiet. Ok, here we are at the next stop - Go Time!
When we return to China, we will re-connect with Tina and Travel China Guide.

Great visit
We travelled to Xi’an with our two kids (6 and 9 year old) and Celine was our guide for the day. We hesitated hiring a guide but it was well worth it and we would have missed all her interesting and comments about the Terracotta Army and the city.
Highly recommended !

Great day out in Xi'An
Our guide for the day was Roger.
He was on time as agreed at our hotel.
Our small group was just one other couple.
His spoken English was perfect and had a very good sense of humour.
He was very knowledgeable about China history. There was nothing he did not know about the Terracotta Warriors and the different Chinese dynasties.
Roger was adaptive and respectful to our individual needs.
He took us to a great restaurant for lunch before we continued our day in Xi'an visiting both the Small Goose Pagoda and the City Wall.

Private tour - Dujiangyan Panda Base - Dujiangyan Irrigation System
From the very first contact with Travel China Guide, their travel consultant Kina Lu was very helpful and adaptive to our requirements.
My childhood dream was to meet the Giant Panda and Bella our guide made sure that I experienced our day to the full.
Her English was perfect and was very friendly and understanding our needs for the day.
Her knowledge of the panda and also of the irrigation system was great and we learnt so much from her.
We were truly sad to end the day and say goodbye. We wanted to take Bella home with us as after spending the day with her she felt like family.

Great tour for History and Culture (Not shopping and relaxing)
11 day tour - Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangzhou, Guilin, Shanghai,
This is a wonderful trip packed with things to see and experience. If you are looking for a slow trip to shop, rest and relax this is NOT a trip for you. If you want to learn as much as you can about China culture and history in a short time this is the tour. Each of the Cities offer a different experience. Bottom Line this was a very nice tour and the Tour company was responsive to all needs and desires. The group started as 12. Some had shorter tours and left at day 8. As I prepared for the tour Travel Guild China was available to give advice. Ashley responded quickly and with detail on any questions I had. I will give some hints learned at the end of this review.
When I landed at the airport A tour guild was waiting for me with a sign as I exited the airport. She met up with a driver and gave me a brief history on the drive to the hotel. Jenny was very accommodating. At my request the driver stopped at an ATM before going to the hotel. In Beijing we Started the day at The Great Wall. I traveled in Mid November. After the peak season. I had expected cold windy weather but was pleasantly surprised. I was a lovely day and we had about an hour to hike along the wall and see the ramparts and other features. This has always been on my bucket list so I had much of the history of this site and the other sites we visited in Beijing. We also visited Other sites in Beijing included Forbidden City, and a n Acrobat show.
the Panda Kitty our tour guild was tried hard but was lacking in her knowledge at several of the sites. I informed Ashley with the travel China Guild the tour company and she provided a cash refund to the entire group for the inconvenience. Other sites in Beijing included Forbidden City, and an Acrobat show.
In Xi'an We were met by Lilly at the airport. Lilly was a knowledgeable and organized tour guild. Xian is the City with the long history of China. Starting back at the 1st emperor who built the famous terracotta warriors. My trip was in mid November after the peak season and before it gets too cold. The crowds at the terracotta soldiers were small and allowed us to spend some time and really see them. We then walked over to the house of the farmer who discovered the terracotta warriors. He is getting very old but took some time to sign a book about the soldiers. We then went to a shop to learn how the soldiers were made. We each made our own terra cotta solider. We visited a nice Buddhist temple and made an offering of incense. We ended the day with a dumpling dinner and show that was fabulous. The next morning we got up early to do Tai Chi in the park next to the City wall. Some touring at the museum and pagoda filled the rest of the day. The group then met up for drinks on the 51st floor of our lovely hotel to admire views of the City.
Samantha was the Guild in Guilin. Samantha was also an excellent guild who clearly spoke about the sites in her City. Guilin is a City of natural beauty. It is the background used in most Chinees art. Guilin is also the location for the 4 minorities in China. The Meow people were lovely in their silver outfits. We spent a day on a river cruise to Yangzhou admiring the lovely sites. The lovely weather seemed to follow us. I was told it had rained before we arrived but our weather was sunny and nice. We visited a small local farm. We stayed late in Yangzhou to see a show directed by the same man who directed the Olympic opening ceremonies. The show featured about 7000 performers over water with the mountains as he scenery. Then a bus ride back. The next morning we has a City tour of Guilin and some free time to explore on our own. The people were super friendly and you certainly felt safe everywhere.
The next and last stop was Shanghai. A really modern big City with the worlds second tallest building and a very European feeling. Expensive shops like Cartier everywhere. Ran our guild spoke perfect English and shared all about his City. It was interesting to see hundreds of years of history in the middle of a vibrant City. He as able to adjust the tour based on what the group wanted.
Some Tips:
China Censors everything on the internet. Wifi exists everywhere but unless you use the government apps in Madeiran it is useless. I was able to access all the installed apps (including Google). I use mint mobile and paid $20 for a 10 day international data plan. Install google translate and download simplified Chinese to your phone. The Great Fire Wall is one of the most difficult things in traveling to China. Some in the group had multiple VPN's and could not access email, or social medias. WhatsApp and similar things do not work. The guilds use WeChat to communicate. you can install it while you are in the country. WeChat and Alipay are used by most for payment. Locals do not use cash. even beggars asked for money with Alipay. ATM's are available at the banks for cash. Visa is accepted at most of the tourist places but not the street vendors.

Beautiful Yunnan trip
This trip to Yunnan was one of my most memorable trip traveling together with my family. We visited Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Shangri-la. Each town has its own unique charm and character. The scenery is just breathtaking at every stops. From Kunming, we traveled to Hongtudi famous for its stunning and colorful mountainous scenery. In Dali, we learned about the local artistic embroidery. Unfortunately we did not get to see much in Erhai Lake due to the rainy weather. In Lijiang we visited Yulong (Jade Dragon) snow mountain and were glad we made it to the Yak alpine meadow at an elevation around 3700m. We also had the opportunity to spend some time with a Naxi family. In Shangri-la, we visited a Tibetan family and learned about their culture and and tried the yak milk tea. There were just too many unforgettable moments to mention. Many thanks to our travel consultant Amy Jian at Travel China Tour Guide to set up this trip for us.

Wonderful experience in Xian
Great time seeing the terracotta soldiers, the pagodas, and the Muslim Quarter. Our guide, Carol, is clearly knowledgeable and experienced; she was friendly and helpful the entire trip. From the moment she picked us up from the airport to the end of the tour, she managed the varying requests of our group members with skill. We had food allergies that Carol handled, and when we needed medicine she even accompanied us to the pharmacy in her downtime to help translate for us. I am very impressed with the itinerary and the accommodations, and I would recommend a tour with Carol to everyone!

What an Amazing Day!
I was warmly greeted by Rocky, my tour guide, at the hotel. Being the last one to be picked up, we headed straight to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. It was bitter cold, but that didn’t stop Rocky one bit, he was very informative, had a good sense of humor and equipped with his camera, shooting pictures of the sights and of the people in the group, it was like bringing along your own photographer! Next stop was the highlight of the trip, the Great Wall. On the way to the Great Wall, Rocky arranged lunch at the restaurant, and we arrived with all the food ready to go, perfectly planned. The Great Wall was amazing, not crowded at all, we had plenty of time to explore and take pictures. On the way back to the hotel, Rocky shared his photos with us! I can’t wait to get back hotel to see them! I highly recommend this trip and Rocky.

Excellent guide on tour of Terracotta Warriors and city wall of Xi’an
The tour was excellent. The guide was extremely well informed and fluent. He provided excellent information about a vast sweep of Chinese History. He gave detailed answers to questions. He led at a good pace, and showed us the best positions for taking photos of the Terracotta warriors. He also offered us additional experiences beyond the official tour, and continued to correspond with us about the site and the area in general after the conclusion of the tour. These kind of tours are all about the quality of the guide, and this was a very good and patient guide. Thoroughly recommended.

Fabulous trip
We did the 14 day Beijing to China trip. It was an absolutely fabulous trip from the minute we arrived we were really looked after after by great guides, First in Beijing by Kitty, then Carol Chen in X'ian. Kevin in Chengdu, and Sophie Lee in Shanghai, they all spoke great English, where very knowledgeable on their area and went out of their way to make a memorable experience for us all. The choice of hotels and locations were perfect, the 3 day Cruise down the Yantzee is a must (but upgrade your allocated restaurant to VIP it's not expensive but it is quieter than the main one). I would especially like to thank Sophie Lee for assisting us with a problem in Shanghai that she took onboard and sorted for us. Would really recommend this tour and TravelChinaGuide.

A nice trip to the terracotta warriors
We had a very nice experience visiting the terracotta warriors! Our guide, Tracy, was very knowledgeable and answered all questions we had in a good way. Her English was very good! The pickup was right on time.
We also went to the city wall museum (as the pagoda is closed on Tuesdays) and were given the option of the Muslim quarter as well.
One tip, I didn’t have WeChat so I had to call them to confirm the pickup time.
I gladly recommend this tour

Reliable and well organised
I‘m very pleased with Travel China Guide Tours, we went through a lot of back and forth with them before we finally settled on this tour and another day tour in Xi‘an. Everything is as expected and advertised, pleasant relaxed and well organised itinerary. Our Guide Rocky in Beijing took professional pictures throughout the day and shared them with us at the end of the trip, which was a very nice touch!

Guilin really puts on a show!
As part of the excellent Classic China Tour we spent two days in Guilin with the very helpful and informative QiuyanLi as our guide for the area.
QiuyanLi ('Li' for short) met us at the airport and took us to the very impressive Reed Flute Cave complex which we really enjoyed. It can, apparently, be very busy but was not at all crowded when we visited so Li was able to show us around the caves without any difficulty.
From there we headed towards the city to see Elephant Trunk Hill. Unfortunately, it was extremely crowded and noisy around the best viewing areas when we visited making it hard to see the best views or hear all of the commentary, despite Li's best efforts.
Our hotel, the Sheraton, was in a great location close to the river and city centre and we found the buffet style breakfasts in the coffee shop were excellent though it was very crowded both mornings. Our room was OK but just a little tired and disappointing compared to some of the others on the tour. Two comfortable chairs would have been better that just one for a couple.
The city is very interesting and friendly with markets and food options of all sorts though we did encounter some issues with misunderstandings over language translations but that can all be part of the travel experience in a foreign country.
We discovered that one of the best (and reasonably priced) options for a local meal is, ironically, the Irish pub next to the hotel which had almost no Irish meal options but some excellent Chinese ones making it a favourite of many of the locals, including Li!
The artificial waterfall which flows over the side of the Waterfall Hotel in the city at certain times in the evening is as spectacular as it is unexpected and worth the short walk.
The beautiful cruise to Yangshuo on the Li River was outstanding and one of the highlights of the whole tour. Li came along and made sure we missed nothing. It was wonderful! We had been warned that the lunch provided on the cruise might be disappointing but we enjoyed it very much and found the hospitality on the boat to be excellent.
Yangshuo was a very interesting and attractive little town where we had time for a short break before heading out to the countryside to walk around a small farming village which was quite interesting and showed us a very different aspect to local life.
There was an optional evening cruise on the Li River in the city area. We nearly didn't bother but that would have been a huge mistake. It was breathtaking and another of the highlights of our whole trip! It is so good that we think it should be included as part of the main tour. Guilin really puts on a show! Li, again, came along to make sure that we really enjoyed ourselves.
Thanks, Guilin and thanks QiuyanLi.

Superb experience thanks to exceptional travel consultant Leslie
I was nervous planning a solo trip to China on short notice with no prior knowledge of China, and my travel dates didn’t align with any existing tour package from any company I could find. I’m so glad I stumbled upon Travel China Guide and *especially my travel consultant Leslie* who created an itinerary specifically for me. Before the trip, she spent considerable time emailing back and forth with me extensively to design the trip I wanted, and continued emailing back and forth to make adjustments and refinements until we had every last detail just right. She arranged train travel between cities, train station drop offs and pick ups, hotel transfers—everything. And once I was in China, she stayed in touch regularly by text to make sure each day went as planned, that I got to the right train platforms, was met by drivers and tour guides as scheduled, and that every other detail went smoothly and according to plan. It’s really hard to say enough about how conscientious, helpful, and available Leslie was at every stage, from being to end. I’m glad I found Leslie, and I would recommend Leslie without hesitation as a travel planner and consultant to anyone.

Best Two Day Tour of Beijing!
Our family just completed the two day highlights of Beijing tour. Our guides were Lucy on day one and Rocky on day two. You couldn’t ask for better tour guides. We had a great experience both days.
Good communication to confirm pickup time, on time pickup, a very comfortable van, professional driver and lotsa water.
Both of our guides were extremely knowledgeable. They shared interesting information in a clear and humorous way. They went above and beyond to meet the needs of each tour member. We would highly recommend this tour.
Thanks Rocky! Thanks Lucy!

'Follow Candy' - excellent 3 days in Beijing
We were on a 14 day small group tour of China with ChinaTravelGuide starting in Beijing.
The guide for our very busy three days in Beijing was the wonderful Candy. She took us to Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, Yonghe Temple, Temple of Heaven, the Beijing Opera Show, a Hutong, the Mutianyu Great Wall, the Beijing Zoo Panda House and the Summer Palace before escorting us to the airport to catch our flight to our next city.
Candy was very knowledgable and made sure that we all saw and understood as much as possible in the very busy three days that she was looking after. It would have been impossible to see as much as we did without her help and guidance.
None of us in our group will ever forget her and her call of "Follow Candy" as she led us through the, often very busy, locations in this massive city. In fact we called ourselves the 'Follow Candy Group' for the rest of the tour around China.
I was once a tour guide myself so recognise it when the job is done well - this was an excellent tour given the time available.

The Greatest Wall!
One of the highlights of our trip to China! ???? We took the chairlift route and walked to the cable car station along the wall, which was enough of a hike and you really get amazing views of the section of the wall. We also enjoyed the Forbidden City, which you could easily spend days exploring. The whole tour was well organised and our guide Selina made sure we understood the history, along with answering all of our questions. I would highly recommend the tour and we can only thank Selina for looking after us while in Beijing!

Xi'an - Warriors and So Much More....
We were on a 14 day tour of China with ChinaTravelGuide and spent two full days (3 nights) in Xi'an with Celine as our local tour guide.
The tour and Celine were excellent and we really enjoyed our stay.
Celine was very helpful and informative and made sure that everything went well for us and that we learnt lots of interesting facts as well as having fun during our very busy time in Xi'an.
We particularly enjoyed the Terracotta Warriors. It was really good to be able to meet Mr Yang, one of the farmers who first unearthed the warriors and also very satisfying to be able to make our own small replicas of the warriors.
Xi'an is an interesting city and we especially like exploring the old city walls and meeting local people nearby as well as exploring the Muslim Quarter.
The Tang Dynasty Show was even better than we were expecting it to be (though going to it did make it a very long day, we were glad that we did).
Thanks, Celine, for making it all so enjoyable. I was once a tour guide myself so recognise a professional when I meet one.

Enjoyable Tour with Wonderful Guide (Carol)
The organization of the whole tour was excellent. I arrived late at my hotel, but the tour guide has taken an effort to ensure I am aware of pick-up time by leaving a message at hotel front office.
Mr Yang, the driver arrived on time for the pick up and Carol met us accordingly at next stop point.
Carol is very knowledgeable on the history of Xi'an, and explained the history of Terracota Armies, during the journey to the Museum. During the tour, she articulate clearly on each sections of the Museum.
Carol also was very accomodating to my muslim dietary needs and help me with my lunch at Terracota Museum.
The tour to City Wall, Pagoda and Xi'an Museum was also wonderful due to Carol clear explanation.
Very happy with the tour and would highly recommed this tour to those visiting Xi'an.

Xi’an is incredible!
We had an amazing time and I highly recommend going on a tour versus doing on your own! Celine (our guide) was very friendly, helpful, and informative. She provided us with the history of the terracotta warriors, the goose pagoda, and the city wall which was all very interesting. She also made recommendations on food to order at lunch and suggested biking part of the wall which made for an even better experience. Celine was thoughtful and checked in with us to make sure we got to the airport ok the next day. Can’t recommend it enough.

X’ian in a day
The best day tour I’ve ever done! The highlight, of course, was the terracotta warriors. They were incredible and there was the right mix of being escorted and free time.
Tracy was an amazing guide, very informative and organised. There was so much packed into the day, but it didn’t feel rushed. A must for anyone who wants to see the highlights of X’ian in a day!

From ancient antiquities in museums to natural beauty, we saw it all
Travel China Guide provided wonderful service from start to finish. In addition to accepting modifications to their standard tour schedule, they helped us make travel and hotel reservations that preceded their tour schedule.
It was a dream trip. We had a wonderful time wherever we went. The guides' English language skills were excellent and their local knowledge added so much to our appreciation of Chinese culture and history. We especially enjoyed the amount of time we spent viewing ancient bronze and ceramic relics at the Sanxingdui and the Jinsha Site Museums in Chengdu – the original inspirations for our trip. Walking around the Leshan Giant Buddha was another highlight among many.
Every morning was a pleasure when we met our guides and drivers waiting for us in our hotel lobby. We hit it off so well and so quickly with our guides that we felt as though we were traveling with close friends. We laughed a lot. The drivers did remarkable jobs of safely maneuvered through heavy city traffic and on the open roads. The very modern hotel accommodations were excellent, with meals and available services meeting all our needs and exceeded our expectations.

Amazing and so beautiful
What an unbelievable great experience was this day!|
My fantastic tour guide Lily and the driver picked me up at 8am at my hotel and we started the tour at the Tarracotta army.
What you see on the television is nothing compared with really seeing this with your own eyes, unbelievable and magnificent. We visited all the pits and afterwards we had a nice lunch.
Also I have met one of the two still living farmers who discovered the terracotta army in 1974 and bought a nice book from him, which he signed for me.
This visit took most of the time, afterwards Lily and the driver took me to the Xi'an museum which is located at the Pagoda and then to the City Wall.
Also both very beautiful to see and the knowledge of the tour guide is incredible!
At the end of the afternoon I was tired and we decided to skip the Muslim Bazar, but the day after I went there myself, it was close to my hotel. I would also recommend to visit this area, the food experience over there is unbelievable.
I really learned a lot of this old city and bought back home some great memories that I won't forget anymore.

Super tour of Xi'an! Totally recommended
Tracy is a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and with great communication skills. She introduced us to every site with a very detailed explanation before getting in, in order to let us enjoy the place once inside and complete with few more info. She even explained facts related to Chinese culture that had nothing to do with thr tour, but regarding Chinese everyday life, which personally I totally appreciated. The tour is well thought, small group with no waste of time, no sto at shopping places for tourists. Definitely recommended!!!

A history tour of Xian
Thanks Rita for making the trip memorable. Though the day was cold and cloudy the presence of Rita made the trip a grand success. We saw all that was promised in the itinerary. Unlike many other tours the guide never pushed us to buy things. All our questions were answered and history explained well. Rita is knowledgeable, polite and caring. She also suggested things to do after the trip got over.
I highly recommend this trip to visitors.
